Walk With God

Written By Day Spring Center

Summer is here and in full bloom! Outdoor exercisers, along the walking park trails, can see beautiful and lush foliage, flowers, and trees, delight in the sweet smell of honeysuckle drifting along the creek area, listen to colorful birds singing, watch beautiful butterflies fluttering, wave to a family enjoying a cookout, and be amused as children play in a nearby swimming pool. Seems like total paradise!

Heaven! Our thoughts can quickly be directed to remembering the life our ancestors once enjoyed in the Garden of Eden. As we have learned in the Old Testament teachings, man and woman were created there and first walked with and conversed with Our Creator. We also know the story of what happens when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They were banished from that perfect and earthly way of life.

But, Blessed Lord loved us so much that He sent His Son, of our Lord, Jesus Christ, into the world to die for us. By His Resurrection, He has re-established the potential of salvation to all human life, ONCE AGAIN, in the Garden of Eden. This spiritual place of the heart, a place in our very soul, this garden is exactly where God placed us originally and wants to dwell with us now! It is shocking to realize that, in our very nature, in our very humanity, we possess the DNA of that original Garden! How do we begin our journey back to that [Paradise|excellent place?

How can we do this? We must remember the Two Great Commandments that require Love of God and Love of Neighbor. Also, we must remember the aim of our Christian life: to acquire the Holy Spirit. We all know what it means to acquire worldly goods or obtain them! Acquiring the Holy Spirit of God is done in exactly the same way! The acquisition of the Holy Spirit is also wealth, but these riches are endless and forgiving. Our Lord Jesus Christ compares our life to a marketplace; the work in our life on earth He calls trading. "Trade till I come" (Luke. 19:13) ... redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Eph. 5:16) He is saying to make the most of our earthly goods which are good works done for Christ's sake and exchange evil for good!

Yes, each one of us can turn back, i.e., have a heart of repentance, and we will have the possibility of living in that heavenly existence even while we are still on this earth! Our Lord is waiting for us. "I will dwell in them and walk in them, and I will be to them a God and they shall be my people." (II Cor. 6:16) Each one of us can choose to turn back to that Garden living. We have the possibility of living in that heavenly existence even while we are still on this earth! Our Lord is waiting for us. "I will dwell in them and walk in them, and I will be to them a God and they shall be my people."
